PSYC 3130: EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY FOR TEACHERS OF ADULTS
Web Site and/or AudioVideo Recommendations

Using the Internet as a resource is absolutely necessary in today's information-based society. However, finding exactly the right material from a reputable among the millions of pages available is often quite difficult.

A major issue in adult education is defining the area in which you will work.  For example, some majors choose to work in adult literacy or GED programs. Others may choose to teach in a vocational or technical skill area. Still others may work in human resource development for business, industry, or government.

A related issue is finding materials and resources you can use as you prepare to become a professional educator for adult students. Your task is to locate and share 5 high quality websites or web-based articles related to your specific area of focus. You may also recommend audio or video materials related to any area relevant to teachers of adults. Post your recommendations on the Vista/WebCT discussion board in the section titled "Website Recommendations". Follow these steps and you should have no difficulties:

  1. Type the relevant information for each recommendation and save your recommendations to a file in Word 2003 format. The relevant information will include:

    1. The topic of the recommended resource and the target audience.

    2. A name for the resource or website.

    3. The correct, specific URL for the specific resource. Someone should be able to simply place the URL in a browser and go directly to the resource you are recommending.

    4. A one-paragraph rationale for why you selected the resource.

  2. On the PSYC 3130, discussion board, select "Web-site recommendations".

  3. Select "Create a Message", type in your name in the subject line.

  4. Attach the word document to your message.

  5. Select the "Preview" button at the bottom of the window to see that your recommendations are attached properly.

  6. If it is, post your message. If it is not, simply send your recommendations to whuitt@valdosta.edu via e-mail attachment.
