Definition

A drug is "a chemical substance, such as a narcotic or hallucinogen, that affects the central nervous system, causing changes in behavior and often addiction" (American Heritage Dictionary). Drug free means to abstain from the use of illegal drugs. For K-12 students, this includes alcohol and tobacco in addition to other drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and designer drugs such as ecstasy.
