Lesson Summary: |
The teacher will perform two dramatic well-known poems, “The Children’s Hour” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and “The Little Boy and the Old Man” by Shel Silverstein. Students will play a Literary Terms Matching Game. The class will then watch a class performing Poetry Alive on the theme of “forgiveness.” In groups, students will locate numerous poems with the theme of “caring.” They will also identify which literary terms are demonstrated in their poem. For follow-up activities, students can write their own poem or prepare and present a dramatic poetry performance. |
